What If the Ruins of King Solomon's Temple are NOT under the Dome of the Rock?

2/14/2015
On Feb. 26, 2015, in London, Gilgamesh Publishing will launch its newest book, “The Strange Little City of Ancient Zion” by Dr. George Wesley Buchanan. The book is based on Dr. Buchanan’s July-August 2014 Link article, “What If the Ruins of King  Solomon’s Temple are NOT under the Dome of the Rock?”

The issue is critical because Jewish extremists believe the ruins of the temple lie beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.  They want to destroy the Muslim shrines in order to rebuild Solomon’s temple. This turns 45 acres of land into a tinderbox whose explosive potential for wide-spread conflict can hardly be imagined.

Unless, as Dr. Buchanan concludes, along with other biblical scholars and some Israeli archaeologists, the ruins are not under Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock.  If they are indeed just south of the shrine, in what we now know is the ancient City of David, senseless confrontation can be avoided.

AMEU believes that Dr. Buchanan’s scholarship is such a powerful deterrent to extremist action that we have, for the first time, translated a Link issue into Arabic to extend its reach.  (Palestinian journalist Khalid Amayreh provided the translation.)  Some have suggested it should be rendered in Hebrew as well, and we welcome the patron who would make it possible.
